The German Deli

15 years ago sisters, Gina Green and Inga Bowyer, and Inga’s husband, Jim Bowyer, founded GermanDeli.com as an online German grocery store.  They quickly adopted the slogan:  "It's not about the food; it's about the memories!"

If you’ve ever lived in Germany and enjoyed firm, crusty Bauernbrot, delicious Brötchen, rich Milka Schokolade, fluffy Schaumküße, smoky Schinken, plump Maultaschen, and thousands of other authentic German or German-style products, you need a place to satisfy your craving once you live in the USA.  Either GermanDeli’s online store (www.GermanDeli.com) or their spacious walk-in retail store, along Highway 121 South in Colleyville, serves that need.  The company’s 50 – 75 employees pack and ship over 60,000 packages to homes in the USA, Canada, and to our Military troops on land or sea.  And the store welcomes thousands of shoppers, many of whom travel great distances to shop in person.

“Our Military men and women hold a special place in our hearts,” says the company president, Inga Bowyer.  “Gina and I are US military brats of a German mom and USAF father.  Together with 3 other siblings, we were stationed at military installations in Puerto Rico, England, and Germany, as well as bases in the US.  I met and married Jim in Wiesbaden while he was serving in the USAF.”

To say the company is committed to US service members is a bit of an understatement.  GermanDeli has shipped countless free items, like Jacobs Kaffee and Haribo Goldbären, to our troops over the years.  GermanDeli proudly calls it “soldier-sizing” an order.

“Our dad was our inspiration for giving back to the military, but it was our German mother, Hildegard, who inspired us to serve the German – American community,” states Gina Green.  “Our German mom would have been proud that we formed a company to reconnect German-born citizens with their favorite food memories.  And we are grateful to our German – American customers for their loyalty and delighted to help support the culture and traditions of our German heritage across the USA, especially here in the Metroplex.”
